VERSACE Sunglasses Collection
Versace's accessories are always glamorous, usually sizable, and more than often have a rock 'n' roll edge. The brand's new eyewear collection is in line with this tradition, and, true to form, stylish and innovative. Though bold, with their wrap-around, oversize masks and large, slightly curved lenses, the shapes are wearable and never extreme. Model VE 4063B with large, oval lenses in black, moss-green, rust or berry-red is lit up on the acetate arms by sprinkles of Swarovski crystals in different sizes. This model will appear in the upcoming Fall 2005 advertising campaign. A glitter element also appears on the aviator-style model VE 2039B , where four tiny crystals and a handful of lacquered dots discreetly frame Versace's Medusa head on the hinge. The mythological logo continues to be the brand's most recognizable element. This model shows the sleek contrast between the metal-framed lenses and the acetate arms - a recurrent motif in this season's collection. The color palette is discreet and neutral in steel-gray, black or periwinkle. Model VE 2037 has a mono-lens with a mask shape framed in metal and wide acetate arms to give a wrap-around feel. In this case, the brand's name on the arms replaces the Medusa and is spelled out in silver letters. This design was first presented on the Fall/Winter 2005 men's runway. For Mido, Versace renders this model unisex by presenting it in pink and tortoiseshell. The model VE 4058 , which was first presented at Silmo 2004 and then featured in the Spring/Summer 2005 campaign on Madonna, has been re-elaborated especially for Mido and is now available with pink lenses and transparent orange acetate arms. Versace's prescription glasses are feather-light, with thin arms and squared-off frames. The focus is on color, with hues that create delicate ombré patterns or alternatively sparkle, flare or smudge with streaked or marbled effects. Two such models ( VE 3034B and VE 3046B ) feature a new embellishment comprised of the Medusa logo encircled by tiny Swarovski crystals on the hinge. The color palette is inspired by the women's ready to wear Fall/Winter 2005 collection including glazed orange, military green, burgundy and mustard.
