Contact Lens Pricing Policy

To use the new supply routes you will need a Valid Certified Contact Lens Prescription issued by the Optometrist, which will need to be shown in order to purchase contact lenses from any approved supplier.

R.J.Holmes Opticians Ltd now offers two supply routes.

Option One - Fully Supported offering the following advantages:

• No fees for refitting new lens to try the latest technology, or if the existing lens type requires updating.
• No fees for any routine contact lens checks.
• No fees for evaluation of power changes.
• Free exchange of stock for lens type or power changes (unopened boxes only).
• Free trial lenses to evaluate a new lens type.
• Priority emergency treatment for eye infections.
• Direct access route to hospital consultants if necessary.
• 10% discount on purchase of solutions.
• Exclusive discounts on the cost of spectacles.

Payment is normally by monthly Direct Debit and the supply contract is for one calendar year with automatic renewal unless otherwise instructed.

Option Two - A Lens Only supply against a Certified Contact Lens Prescription.

• With this supply route there is no exchange facility and all professional appointments are chargeable at the prevailing rate.
• No discounts will apply.

Initial Contact Lens fitting for new patient.

• A valid sight test prescription is required, which usually lasts for two years unless otherwise indicated by the prescribing Optometrist.
• A contact lens fit is likely to span at least two appointments, and will include any trial lenses that are required. Tuition on insertion and removal, lens handling and sterilisation will also be given, however if additional visits to the Optometrist are required then further charges may apply.
• Patients will need to be reviewed after wearing lenses for three months to ensure that all is well and that lens wear remains safe. Only at this stage can a Certified Contact Lens Prescription be issued.

Existing Contact Lens Wearers.

• Direct Debit Patients will be transferred to the Option One Fully Supported scheme automatically. They will be issued with a supply agreement at their annual visit.
• Patients who currently pay by cash, and regularly collect lenses every six months can also be transferred to Option One and be issued with a contract and supply statement. Any Patient who has not been seen for twelve months may find that no further lenses can be supplied without an examination. This decision is at the discretion of the prescribing Optometrist.
• Patients wishing to change supply routes will need an appointment with their Optometrist who will then be able, if appropriate, to issue a Certified Contact Lens Prescription.
